If you have a throttle drag screw, you can ride no-hands if you want. BMWs had them for years. Harleys also had throttles that did not return on their own.

If you have a Jawa Californian with a sidecar, you can go from neutral into first, then ease the bike off the line and shift up through the gears, all with no hands. Just crank down the friction steering damper, set the throttle with the revs at about 2500-3000 rpm, toe the bike into first (the shift lever also disengages the clutch), then ease off on the lever, and away you go. It’s a hilarious stunt at rallies.

A friend with a withered left arm set up his MZ so he could clutch and brake with his right hand. Hs left was in a brace, so he just rested it on the grip, essentially riding one-handed. I tried to convince him a Jawa was the way to go, but he stuck with the MZ, a better bike in any event.

i am looking to get a used honda ruckus scooter with 250cc motor, is that size motor still considered a scooter or motorcycle? will i have to get a M1 or M2 license? and how much would insurance be? i live in the los angeles county area.

We watch people on TV that stand outside in hurricanes and wonder just how crazy they have to be to do that? Hello I live in Alberta, Canada and I was wondering if anybody knew the exact rules regarding 50cc motorcycles/scooters and learners licenses.
I read the info in the link but I am still unclear is I am allowed to drive a motorcycle as long as it is under 50cc.

Yes if you have a learners permit to drive a car you can drive a 50cc alone. You can call and confirm. I think you can even get away without insurance but I am not 100% sure of that, check with your insurance company.

I want to get a motorcycle or a scooter but I can’t decide on what is best. I want to be able to drive it to school everyday but at some point I hope I can use it for long distance. Is any motorcycle or scooter good for that or would I have to buy two different vehicles?

250 Ninja. Especially since you want to be able to use it for long distance. They are light, easy to maneuver, have plenty of power, and get great mileage.

Im guessing you are talking about 49cc scooters.

The fastest one I know of is a tuned Yamaha Aerox, they can do up to 74 mp/h when tuned.

I’m planning to get my motorcycle Learner’s license soon, and I’m looking into taking lessons specifically for driving motor scooters only. I’ve tried looking through the phone book, but all of the schools seem to only offer lessons on normal motorcycles.

Can someone recommend me a school that offers scooter lessons in Vancouver, Burnaby, or that sort of area?

Yea there’s one in downtown Burnaby. Two blocks south of the mini-mart/gas station. I believe it’s called Accurate Driving School. They teach everything and have a special class for scooters
