Biker Skin Protection Doesn’t Mean Buy More Leather!

We watch people on TV that stand outside in hurricanes and wonder just how crazy they have to be to do that? We see people in tropical storms getting blown down the street and wonder what kind of idiot would expose themselves to that? We sit back in amazement at the havocked reeked by minimal storms at a trailer park! Then we jump on our bikes with sleeveless T’s, tank tops, shorts and no helmets and proceed to drive at over 35 MPH (Tropical Storm) and 73MPH (Hurricane Category 1) and wonder why our skin is torn up.

There are products for the beach, there are products for skiing, there are products for bicycle riders, there are products for runners, football players, swimmers, etc…. So where are the products made specifically for motorcycle riders?

Is lane splitting for motorcycles with bike lane OK in california?

I know lane-splitting is semi-legal in California, in the sense, we can do it as long as we do it safely. I do it all the time when there is traffic and when I am riding my motorcycle on a multi-lane street.
Now most of the streets in my city has only a single lane (along with a bike lane at the side for bicycles) and there is a lot of traffic sometimes. Would it be alright to do lane-splitting with the bicycle lane ? (ie, travel between the single lane and bicycle lane, just like i do between two car lanes) Has anyone been fined for it ?
PS: I DONOT do lane-splitting when the traffic is moving. I do it only when there is a huge queue of cars that are not moving that quickly..

No, you are only allowed to split legal lanes of traffic. If there is only one traffic lane in your direction of travel (bicycle lanes do not count) you cannot legally lane split, even in California.

You also cannot lane split between traffic lanes and HOV lanes.

What are the differences between these bikes (motorcycles)?

and what are those bikes used in motogp?

Are there any names given to the types of helmet? What types of helmets are there and what are the uses and differences?

Also, can anyone tell me what are the reccommended things to wear when driving a motorbike on normal roads.

Crossovers – Looks like a dirtbike, handles like a sport bike.

Sportbike – A bike capable of high speeds and very nimble. They can be broken down into "Superbikes, Super Sports, and Hyperbikes".

Superbike – Usually 600-1000cc. Commonly 800cc. They’re fast.

Helmets…

Full face and brain buckets.

Full face is a helmet that covers EVERYTHING.

Brain buckets… well… that’s what it is. Think of a biker (the old, tattooed bad ass).

Some people wear jeans and tshirts on the road but I’d go with full race leathers. No matter how competent you are…. there are still a bunch of dumbasses on the road around you.

As for what the MotoGP bikes are. They’re perfect. Flawless. And built with the science of racing in mine. They are PERFECT. (and realllllllllllllllly expensive… ~$3.5 MILLION per season. and you can’t go out and buy one. they are purpose built)

MotoGP is divided into 3 classes. 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. In 2010, 250cc will be replaced by the new Moto2 (600cc). The MotoGP class is 800cc or less.
