Harley-Davidson Museum, 12/27/08

If you come to Milwaukee,skip the Pabst Mansion and see this Museum. And if you have kids, bring them along.

People who put their beautiful, shiny bikes in dead storage at the first sign of winter might be surprised to learn that men (and women) used to ride motorcycles in all kinds of weather — for their jobs, and if they couldn’t afford a car, as their only means of transportation.

At the end of the exhibit, if you can sit on one of those stationery motorcycles with farmland rushing by on the screen in front of you, and not be yearning to take a cross-country trip down back roads sitting on a Harley, you are suffering from a very serious heart condition: you don’t have one.
