Should I surprise my husband by buying him a Harley Davidson bike?

Of course it is known in Egypt especially from where your hubby came from (Maadie),,,I saw some who are riding them, actually one of my neighbours is having one (I have some wealthy neighbours),, I would prefer a BMW bike,,, as I am a little European oriented when it comes to machines lol. (when I was young I used to wear real harley shoes and leather jackets )..anyway, the custom on those bike is huge as they have huge cc ,,,and generally in Egypt who can afford to buy them , would prefer to buy a car,,,a Bike in Egypt if it is not needed as a necessity (not to be able to buy a car,) would not be purchased but in very rare cases (a crazy hobby),,, but let me ask you honesty, where a person could ride a bike in Cairo or in Egypt generally, I think you are away for a while , I used to see daily terrible car accidents like movies in the road to Maadie from Shroak,, I even see trailers which are upside down,,, completely (minced ) cars…do you remember how people drive there, do you remember how the streets are with all the rocks , manhole covers and the natural and artificial (hill ) on the streets,, I would prefer to buy an army tank to drive there than a car not a bikkkkeee….now if your husband is a suicidal character , go on and buy him a bike,,,although he would have to shower every ride for an hour (due to the smoke and dust he will be lashed with while driving)…and do not forget to buy him an Air conditioned helmet (who would bike in that heat unless masochistic person)…..AA what happened , why do you want revenge from Ahmed??
Anyway, the popular brands in Egypt would be Suzuki or Jawa,, for a bike,, wealthy people will buy BMW…. (BMW bike would be sold in bavaria group in katamyah road or any BMW dealer there, (A SPECIAL IMPORT ORDER HAS TO BE MADEAND THAT WILL BE FROM Dubai or Germany directly)

you can check (Noor Darwish showroom in heliopolis , he was a friend of mine,, and used to be dealer of BMW and sell bikes till 5 years ago) (do not know if he still doing that )
, Suzuki would be sold by Soedy group, or any dealer,,,there was a very famous shop for that near Ramsis square with Fagalah… (For Jawa bikes)

Harly tends to be an expensive type of bike
in Egypt people do not have alot of money and only buy what they need or what they can afford.

They are evidently very hard to come by and imported.If you need parts they have to come from the the U.K or U.S.A.
Yes,before you ask, on our trip he has bought yet another Harley Davidson, so I know there is already one in Luxor and in about 6 weeks the second will arrive.
How he is going two ride two at once,it should be interesting!
Altogether there are 3 in our garage but dont ask me what the other one is,its only a 350cc something or other.
Yes I am sure he will be a happy boy if you buy him a Harley,seems they are up there with the ultimate"big boys toys"
All I know is they make a lot of noise.
addit: I think that was his motivation for coming with me as he did quite a bit of "boys" shopping while he was here.

it's not very popular but all people who are in bikes know it for sure, you see, riding a motorbike, whatever the brand is, is very dangerous in Egypt, especially in big cities because of low respect to laws which is seldom enforced..
Anyway, there is a group of motor cyclists who are riding Harley's in Egypt, i saw them several times, they are Egyptians and foreigners, doing some kind of community, they wander in packs just like you see in American movies but i don't know where they set or where they go..

good luck with the bike.. i promise he would be pleased!
if you are in very crowed area i would advise that the engine is not "air cooled". i mean it should have some kind of radiator so it does not over heat while standing in traffic for long time. (this happened to me with a friend and we had to wait like 30 minutes!) it can reach 1,000s of degree F in the combustion chambers. turning it off and on to avoid over heating is a pain in the neck (or leg lol)
If he is generally crusin' on fairly open road this should not bear too much trouble.
