I hear they may be moving their headquarters out of Milwaukee due to labor costs. What is the latest on Harley employees and bikes. Bless their hearts.
Yes they are. A few of us just got back to Ohio from Wyoming and it was the guy on the Triumph Sprint who held us up. Although he had more fun in the twisties, he had to stop to stretch every 150 miles or so.

Harley has been building better bikes, for about 25 years. Every manufacturer, as it’s issues. I subcontracted, for Harley in the early 90′s. I’ve seen for myself what Harley does, in the name of quality.
In both, the engineering and manufacturing sides. Today’s bikes are engineered and built, better than ever.
As far as Harley move out of Milwaukee, wages are on the high end for around here. But not all that high, for over all around the country. Harley is threatening, because of what happened up at Mercury Marine.

I’d have to say yes.But the question is better than what? Older Harley’s defiantly better than every other manufacturer not a chance.

Harley is building a better bike than ever before. But that is faint praise. They are still overpriced crap that won’t go around corners. I noticed last week in South Dakota that some of the new ones will run down the highway like a real motorcycle. But get them off the freeway and onto a real road and they are hopeless.

the only time they built they built junk was during the years that A.M.F. owned them, qualityt control wasnt there. Those bike [shovelheads were junk. However A.M.F. invested in the cad cam machinery that saved the company! When they bought themseves back and introduced the Evolution motor all that poor quality went away.Today they make a bike that runs and keeps running. You might notice that there arent to many questions on here about there bikes!

If a "better bike" is a bike that can’t lean over at 100mph and in which the engine is purposefully unbalanced and as a direct result they tend to shear themselves off their mounts and vibrate your butt off the back then yes, Harley is building a better bike.
Harleys aren’t really my thing, it’s too much of an overpriced bs club thing to me (you go into a harley dealership and more than half of the store is dedicated to non-gear apparel and useless nick-knacks such as earrings and bedazzled harley cookie jars)
so I say thanks but no thanks to harley-davidson.

Not really. They still have the same antique design but more parts are made in China instead of Japan. The union will be the death of H-D.

They have been building bikes in York,Pennsylvania for years now.
And they are better than they have ever been.
More expensive too.

Any major manufacturer is building solid quality bikes. Honda, Suzuki, Kawisaki, Harley, Victory… they all build bikes that will last upto 100K given normal maintaince and care.
It comes down more to what bike feels right for you. Harley’s tend to have more fit and finish, however you do pay more for it. They tend to stay away from plastics on the fenders and other parts, however, there’s not much issue with plastics, a high quality plastic will be almost indistinguishable from metal, except for maybe by touch alone.
Find a bike that matches your style and price range. They’re all good.

They must be;….. I have an ’06 FLSTC that I ride the piss out of it DAILY and it just keeps coming back for more. I took 3 trips of around 2K miles each this summer so far and it never missed a beat. NONE of the metric bikes I’ve ridden over my 40+ years experience has been that tough. Period. I’ll be taking the thing on 2 more trips before winter and won’t have any problems. Its got over 50K on it now and it stiil runs pretty much like the day I bought it. It doesn’t leak. It doesn’t cough, spit sputter, fart, hiccup or stall. It goes and goes and goes….no complaints.
What I cant stand is a guy that spends the kind of money on a Harley, rides it 500 miles or less per year and lets it sit in his garage then gripes & whines when it won’t run right…..
btw: It doesn’t corner at 100mph because its not designed to! (what a dumbazz)
I have YET to get a crotch rocket rider to accept the lunch challenge: The first one to Austin from Dallas gets a bought lunch from the second rider….. (the rice rocket may go way over 100 but mine will go well over 100 ALL DAY LONG)
