If youre in the market for a new bagger in 2010 youre in luck.
Victory has added not one but two new models to its touring family. The Cross Country and Cross Roads expand Victorys own touring family while adding more selection to the collection of hardbag cruisers currently on the market.
With the new Vics comes more competition for Harley-Davidson, arguably the father of the hard luggage cruiser segment.
During the unveiling in July of this year of the two new models, Victory didnt mince words when the company made it plainly obvious Harleys Street Glide and Road King are where Victory had set its sights with the Cross bikes.

On paper and …
On paper and performance, the Cross Country beats the Glide.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic styling of some Harleys, it all come’s down to personal choice.
ever notice how …
ever notice how people who buy Victory’s or jap bikes are always trying to convince harley owners there bike is better? HD owners don’t care, we wouldn’t own any other bike no matter how hard you try and tell us it’s better!! I bet it sucks owning a bike your not proud of….HD FOREVER
I own a Harley and …
I own a Harley and just test rode a Victory Cross Roads. I have ridden all the H/Ds at demo days and they were not any better than what I currently ride. The Victory is a quantum leap forward. My next bike will be American made, but I don’t think it will be another H/D.
Sorry, I misquoted …
Sorry, I misquoted the results. I told you the torque instead of HP. Here are the true dyno results:
Victory: 102 ft torque, 85 hp
Harley: 80 ft torque, 61 hp
That difference is quite substantial.
The Victory’s engine has 10 more cubic inches, better intake/exhaust, more aggressive cam, aggressive injection mapping, and more valve clearance. It’s an all around better engine made by a company renowned worldwide for it’s powersport vehicles.
holy crap thats a …
holy crap thats a very Big difference between dyno resuilts!! are the engines that much different OR bigger from each other?
The Evolution was …
The Evolution was designed by Harley Davidson when it was owned by AMF. AMF dumped alot of money into R&D and retooling for the Evo engine. The Evo, however, did not make it to market until years after the buyout.
The Evo saved Harley and to this day is still the best Harley motor ever made.
Actually the Evo …
Actually the Evo was the first new engine post AMF – I know I waited for it…got one in my 1986 Softail…and yeah – it does leak…lol
Sounds like a Lawn …
)))
Sounds like a Lawn mower or Snowmobile dudes
thats all the info …
thats all the info they could say about the RG? glove box and what not? how about the HP & FTLBS? what is the power of the RG compared to that victory? are they really that different from each other?
How much does it …
How much does it cost to get a valve adjustment?…just curious because obvisously a Vic owner wouldn’t know and the cost to get any Harley Davidson to make more than 69 hp? $500 will get a Vic to about 100hp/100lbs of trq. I am just saying.
Unless your into …
Unless your into the “Harley lifestyle” the Victory is definitely a viable alternative. More powerful, looks great and rides great. The only thing I’d give the Harley over the victory is the ABS brake option. I currently own a Harley street glide but when the time comes for my next toy I will certainly look at the Victory’s.
The hatred comming …
The hatred comming from the hd crowd is simply penis envy.
I don’t understand …
I don’t understand someting. The 10 RG is set lower than the 09′s how does that handle better? The turning radius has to be less than the 09 does it not?. By the way the Victory is a nice bike but man can they do something about those friggin ugly plain engines? Ughhh I would take the HD anyday of the week and twice on sunday’s.
I personally own a …
I personally own a ’03 vic v92c, and a ’75 sporty 1000. But if I was to purchase a bike soley on looks, it would be a harley for sure. They are the best lookin bike on the road period. I would take a street glide over the cross country in a minute. As for power, dependability, and handling vics all the way!!
The Sportsters …
The Sportsters still use Evo engines. They are very reliable.
I was talking about the new 96ci engines, which are shit.
Funny how Harley’s most reliable engine was designed by AMF and is only used in their cheapest bikes!
And their BEST engine, the Revolution, is only in the VROD series. That engine should be available in EVERY freakin Harley. Why wouldn’t you want DOUBLE the power? Why wouldn’t you want a liquid cooled, modern drivetrain?
FishWitch…120,000 …
FishWitch…120,000 miles on her ’05 kingping…has she rebuilt the top end or the bottom end? nope…Tires, belt, oil brake pads, that’s about it.
