Yes, for 50cc+ engines. BUT consider how easy it is to get a m/c endorsement with a scooter! I bought a 150cc, sat down and studied for a few hours, took a couple of sample tests online, paid $7 and passed. I spent the next couple of weeks riding during the day like I was supposed to, bought and used the riding gear like I was supposed to, and rode it around town until I was comfortable, working up to busier, 40mph traffic. Then I downloaded the skills test procedures and went down to the MVD a few times and set up the cones & practiced. The skills test on a 150cc scooter is nothing to be concerned about, provided you practice the course and know what you’ll be asked to do. No clutch to work with, it’s highly maneuverable, you’ll pass. As far as I’m concerned, taking the motorcycle skills test on a scooter is legal cheating.
And then you can ride it day and night, with a passenger, and if you want later on you can move up to more power or just stay with the utility of a scooter. I did both. Congrats on the decision to move “up” to two wheels!
