This is part 3 in my shopping for a motorcycle series. In it I discuss my last video, plus and minuses of getting a 600 or 650 cc bike. and lastly we take a walk around the 09 Suzuki Boulivard S40. I don’t know why I was so tired and out of breath when I made this video. I sound like darth vader.

New Riders should …
New Riders should get what they feel comfortable with. My first bike was a 250 and that was at the MSF course but after that I went out and brought a Ducati 1198 . So just because your a beginner doesn’t always mean that you should keep the cc low.
If you havent …
If you havent already gotten one try a ninja 650r they are great it was my first bike and i was 16 (im only 18 now) but i was able to move up to a 600 after a few thousand miles. I could have kept the 650 becuase it has enough power but the price was right on a left over 2008 600
i think that ur …
i think that ur right about more power is better, and i mean is that if ur a good driver then more power will save u. But i still think that ur much more likely to die on a 120 hp bike than on a 30-40 hp bike. – but technicly ur right.
and surry if i cant spell, im danish

i think it makes more sense for a new rider to get a 250, im looking at buying a ninja and want the 250 simply because i dont think i could handle a 600.
Yeah a 250 is 100 …
Yeah a 250 is 100 hundred times safer than a 600. The fact is that its easier to drop a heavier bike and most obstacles require you to go around the object not past it. If your reading this please believe me when i say this.

Faster acceleration = Less respone time

Less Response Time x2 = Accident waiting to happen

Thanks for taking us to the motorcycle shop. I like Suzuki s40.
I bought this bike …
I bought this bike 3 weeks ago. I took the silver-white combo. This is my first bike in 11 years. I knocked around on some 350 and 450′s before. I’m 41 and wrestle with some nagging muscle aches so I wanted a light small frame bike but with a bit of pep you wont get from a 350 range. This bike fits the bill perfect. If you are looking to take a pretty decent step up from your starter 250, this is worth a serious look.

My first was a 1976 Kawasaki KZ 400 in fact it’s still my bike and I ride it when I can. I like the smaller bikes I think the are more fun to ride.

hey, nice vids – i also am thinking of getting a bike – im turning 23 in a few days and i think a 600cc is about right (i would get the cbr600 if i did) i feel it is bout the right power – fast, but not ridiculous. I used to have bikes when iw as younger too but im just a bit worried, not sure whether to get one or not.
Did you decide in the end, if so, what did you go for?
I have been …
I have been starting out riding and have ridden a 06 250 And have ridden my friends SV650s and Ninja zx-6r. The Ninja zx-6r is a beast of a bike (rode it for 15minutes of terror before I switched back the sv650s) and no where near safer even though I have heard a few squids say that. My friend with the zx-6r says to this day he would not be the rider he is today if it wasn’t for the 250. Starting with a 600cc R bike you will get no where near using the full potential of that bike

I heard it wasn’t a big deal but the backfireing was what made me decide not to get this bike. I heard it has something to do with U.S. emission standards. pretty bike though
I have stock …
I have stock carburetor, stock exhaust. With that setup, it backfires with a “pop” sound, about 40 percent of the time when I turn off the engine… I noticed it backfired more when I adjusted the engine idle adjust knob to make it idle faster. When I turned it back some, it got better. Once in a while when I am downshifting and let the throttle snap closed, it will backfire but nothing real loud.
Cool, have you had …
Cool, have you had any problem with it backfireing?
I have this bike, …
I have this bike, gets great gas mileage, and yes it takes a good amount of force to work the clutch on this bike.
hey man, first of …
hey man, first of all the MSF course says it is not safe to pass anything as quickly as possible…they show you the technique of stopping quickly…thats there main purpose! so with that i believe a 600 is good but you have your life to worry about and you still got ur life to get a 600cc bike!
If you’re looking …
If you’re looking at a 600 for your first bike its best to go for an older version as they arent as powerful as current 600s
‘s. Even if youre patient a noob can get into trouble easily if they have to much power under their wrist. However, i do agree that an old 600, a 650, or 500 is the best choice for 1st bike. You wont get tired of them as fast and they have enough power for the highway + they give you a little extra to get out of trouble.

Later I am going to profile the yamaha vstar custom and the classic. and they have the ignition on the front. so I don’t know what suzuki was thinking. If I had more than one key on the keychain I ume it would become very annoying. also I guess you would have to use the engine shutoff to turn off the bike.

Honestly, a key on the side seems kind of weird. I guess the lifestyle of a Hog.
