No because that's their personal property. If the state doesn't ban the riding of motorcycles then how can the NFL do it…

there is no doubt… After yesterday accident with Big Ben, I think the NFL will ban motorcycles, because it is getting way out of hand and to many great nfl players are getting hurt and some of them have to retire early…

Players' contracts do have a clause that if they do some risky activities that they will not be compesated by the team.

I think the new commish will make the call on this topic. I doubt it. That is too much babysitting by the league.

I can't see them ever being able to ban it, I do know several players have it written into there contracts that they must wear a helmet or they will lose there salary and any bonuses they would have received, if they are not able to play. Some have it written that if they don't wear a helmet that it will completely void their contract at the time they are caught not wearing it.

Players are already not allowed to ride during the season. I think if they would stop thinking they are so untouchable and wear a stupid helmet then a lot of accidents wouldn't be as bad.

No. But GM's will put clauses in players' contracts more often as a result of this accident.

If you pay a man, what Ben is making, you have a right to tell the dumb ass, not you ride a motorcycle, especially without a helmet..what dumb ass!!!

No they can't. A certain team can put in a certain players contract that they cannot participate in dangerous activities such as anything the owner sees fit to put there. if he does and is injured its breaking your contract.

Of course not, not the NFL. It might began to be put in contracts on franchise players but do not think it'll be mandated by the NFL.

They should write into players contract that they can't ride them, besides riding a Lamborghini or a Ferrari would be better than a bike

I'm not sure the league can do it but I'll bet a lot more teams will put clauses in players contracts prohibiting it or any other off field hobby with even a hint of danger (ie skydiving, rock climbing). The big question regarding Roethlisberger (I hope I spelled his name right) is this: What were you thinking not wearing a helmet??!!

All they can do is put the clause in their contract……that would be infringing on their rights as American citizens………I wouldn't want to live in a country that could do that. As much as "we pay" them and love to watch them play we still don't own them

Its not really the NFL's responsiblilty to police whether or not players do "risky" behavior. Most of the players new contracts now have clauses in them that fines them for "destructive behavior". But its like apples and oranges. Are you going to tell someone to not cross the street on fear of getting hit by a car? Well, why is this any different? Can't help it that Big Ben was a moron for not wearing a helmet. I think he will know better now.

Not unless another person named Ben Roethlisberger or Kellen Winslow show up in the NFL

I think that individual teams may start putting clauses in contracts that prohibit such risky behavior (some already have). However, I seriously doubt that the NFL can (and would) ban riding motorcyles entirely. As a steelers fan, I have to say that Big Ben should have been and needs to be more careful in the future. He's the franchise quarterback and to put his health in jeopardy affects not only himself and his family but the entire Steelers organization. Now there are talks of re-signing Tommy Maddox : ( Sorry, I've gone off on a tangent.

Yes, in order to protect their investments. Kellen Winslow Jr. lost some of his signing bonus when he crashed his bike last year I believe.

ITS ILLEGAL FOR THE NFL TO TRY AND REGULATE WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOUR OFF OF WORK!…THIS WILL NEVER PASS, THEY CAN ONLY LECTURE AND USE BIG BEN AS AN EXAMPLE OF STUPID STUFF THAT GROWN MEN SHOULDNT DO…..

what a player does during the season is the team's business. What that player does in the offseason is his business period.
